This course is for project managers and project team members who must be effective in a very short period of time and are prepared to spend an intense five days learning course material that other providers teach in five weeks. (Due to the intense nature of this course, it can be modified to two each three-day sessions at no extra cost). This course provides a concentrated, detailed yet comprehensive understanding of project management in a very short period of time. The course addresses the basic techniques and methodologies; principles and processes; and, the paradigm and culture of project management. The participant will delve into each phase of a project in chronological order and learn how the phases interrelate. The tools of project management, such as work breakdown structure, scheduling, contracting, earned value analysis, and risk management will be explained and their use demonstrated. Those elements of project management critical to the success of a project, such as leadership styles, communication processes and team building, will be identified and explained. Finally, the principles and tools will be integrated and made clear through a case study coming from the government agency's organizational setting.
