This course is for support and administrative staff who desire a quick review of project management fundamentals or an introduction to the practice of project management. Participants will be ready to join the project management team and quickly become productive. This two-day introductory course introduces and acquaints the participant with the nine project management knowledge areas, four life cycle phases, and five project management processes used by project managers. The course will familiarize the participant with program management terms, standards and metrics, methods commonly used, and control techniques that are used in all types of government projects. The participant will receive useful guidance on assembling and being part of a project team, how to use software and communication tools, how to read and understand budgets and schedules, and what risk management is all about. This course is jammed with practical tips and “nuts and bolts” approaches that will jump-start the project with knowledgeable and motivated project team members.
